Exelon Foundation STEM Academy for Girls

The 2023 Exelon Foundation STEM Academy is a free, week-long program for current 10th and 11th grade girls (class of 2024 and 2025) interested in STEM that live in the Baltimore/D.C. area.  These young women will learn from women working in STEM and other leaders; explore sustainability, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate change through hands on activities; and connect with like-minded peers.  The Exelon Foundation STEM Academy Baltimore/D.C. summer program will be held Sunday, July 30th - Friday, August 4th at the University of Maryland at College Park. 

 

All interested students, educators, or parents are welcome to join us for an informational session.  Participants will be able to ask questions, hear from STEM Academy alumnae, and learn more about the summer academy.

 

Informational sessions will be hosted via Zoom (click below to register):

January 23rd from 6:30 pm CT to 7:15 pm CT and March 3rd 4:30 pm CT to 5:15 pm CT.

Children’s National Hospital METEOR v. HS summer internship program

Students participating in METEOR will join a team of scientists and medical specialists in cutting-edge pediatric biomedical laboratories and clinics for a summer of research, mentorship and discovery.

  • The opportunity is open to rising juniors or seniors, who must be US citizens or permanent residents.
  • Our team works with Children’s METEOR as a Career Ready Internship host employer, so students who are accepted to METEOR and complete all steps of the CRI process (registration in Get My Interns, resume submission, MBSYEP process) can have METEOR be their internship placement and earn the elevated wage of $15.20/hour.

HIGH SCHOOL SCIENTIFIC TRAINING AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAM 2.0 (HISTEP 2.0)

 HiSTEP 2.0 program provides high school seniors (rising college freshmen) who have little or no research experience an opportunity to spend a summer (eight weeks) performing biomedical research. Students will work side-by-side with some of the world’s leading scientists on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, MD. Selected students will be matched with a principal investigator in the NIH Intramural Research Program (IRP) where they will explore the breadth of biomedical, translational, and basic science research. In addition, students will participate in weekly workshops and seminars aiming to develop their scientific, professional, and personal skills and discuss strategies for success in college. Students will receive Transhare benefits to cover the cost of public transportation and a stipend determined by their education level completed prior to starting at the NIH.

Summer UDC Academy – Logistics & International Trade

UDC is organizing 2021 Online Summer UDC Academy – Logistics & International Trade (LIT), CAM-STAR NASA Opportunities Awareness, and Risk & Resilience (R&R) workshop from July 21 – 23, 2021. This workshop is a college prep FREE program (no costs involved whatsoever) and the program is funded by the National Science Foundation and NASA. The workshop participants will receive two certificates upon successful completion of the workshop – one from the UDC School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and another from the UDC School of Business and Public Administration.

The summer academy will be held from Wednesday, July 21, 2021 to Friday, July 23, 2021 (10 am – 4 pm). It will be online, and you will need an internet connected device to attend. More information will be provided once you apply and are accepted to the academy. The online summer program is supported by NSF and NASA.
