What our students are up to:
Our HOSA club leaders went to the district wide leadership conference this week in preparation for the competitions at the end of March. Students who place at the competitions in March with continue onto nationals in June in Houston!
Mr. Meyer’s first-level engineering course, Introduction to Engineering Design, students are working on a reverse engineering project where they break apart wind-up toys and document the job function of each component using engineering terminology.
Mr. Coster’s first-level IT course, Computer Science Essentials, built vexcode robots that student teams programmed, and had their big races this week. Check out the pictures of some of our winners!
It was so great to see some new faces come and volunteer at our recruitment event for Hardy Middle School! Each STEM table had fun activities for rising 9th graders to try and learn more about our academy offerings for next year. Well done, Tigers! (photos attached)

We are so excited to have a new partner in UDC’s Department of Speech Pathology and Clinic! Students were wowed by such an interactive day of awareness of this exciting and important career field. No lectures here! Students got to engage in an escape room, work through scenarios, and work with VR!
Our academy students showed up and showed out at Deal Middle School this week at our Recruitment Fair! All 10 of Jackson-Reed Academies had the chance to engage with Deal 7th and 8th graders to educate them on academy options when they come to Jackson-Reed.
